Wairarapa

The Wairarapa has been inhabited by the Maori people for at least 800 years, and Europeans since the 1840's. At the base of the Tararua range in the south-east corner of the North Island, this valley of New Zealand has ample amounts of history, and all the charm of seeming off the beaten track.

A quick 1 hour trip from Wellington, the Wairarapa is a great place to enjoy the wineries of Martinborough, the country accommodation and hospitality, and the marvellous mountainous scenery whether just for a weekend away, or en route to experience more of New Zealand.
